What makes a sentence complete?
1. Every sentence has two parts.
2. The subject tells whom or what the sentence is about.
3. The predicate tells what the subject does or is.
Look at the paper on the left. Identify the subject and predicate of each sentence.

Red and Green colored pencils
Sentence strips
note cards
Each student gets 2 note cards.
Each one writes a subject on a card using RED.
Exchange your subjects with a classmate.
Complete the sentence by writing a predicate in a different color.
Add your sentences to the chart.
