Day 1 - Teach
Rules and Definitions for a sentence.
1. A sentence is a group of words that tells a complete thought. It tells whom or what the sentence is about and what happens.
2. A sentence begins with a capital letter.
3. A sentence ends with a period, question mark, or exclamation point.
4. A fragment is a group of words that is not a complete sentence.

Day 3 - Scrambled Sentences
1. Find 5 sentences from the newspapers.
2. Cut them out.
3. Glue the sentences onto a notecard.
4. Cut the sentences into two, three or four parts - cutting between words.
5. Place the pieces in the envelopes.
6. Swap envelopes with a classmate.
7. Try to put the sentences back together again.

Day 5 - Improving Your Writing
With a partner, identify the sentence fragments. Discuss with your partner how you could correct the fragments. Be ready to share your ideas with the rest of the class.
Using the ideas and topics that you have learned this week. Select one piece of your writing from the week and see if you can improve it by correcting sentence fragments.
